Coaching In Ringwood
Coaching for all of our sports programs is a
volunteer based opportunity. We encourage anyone and everyone to coach-
regardless of experience! We can provide you with support to make your coaching
experience positive for both you and the Ringwood athletes.
There are four steps to coaching in Ringwood:
1. Sign up on CommunityPass as a coach for the program you will be coaching.
2. Attend a Rutger's S.A.F.E.T.Y. Coaches' Clinic. Ringwood Recreation offers one class prior to each season at no cost to Ringwood residents or coaches. If you cannot make the Clinic scheduled in Ringwood, you will need to attend one out of town. A schedule of all Clinics can be found here. Ringwood Recreation will not be able to reimburse for Clinics taken out of town.
3. Complete the online CDC Heads Up Concussion Certification. For those taking the Rutger's Clinic in Ringwood, this can be completed at the Clinic. For all others, the course can be found here and the certificate of completion should be emailed to recdept@ringwoodnj.net or mailed to the Recreation Department at 60 Margaret King Ave, Ringwood NJ.
4. Complete a Borough sponsored background check. Unfortunately, Ringwood Recreation will not be able to accept other background checks at this time. To complete the check, fill out this release form and return it to the Recreation Department. From there, you will receive an email asking you to fill out the remainder of your information required for the check. You will be notified if a problem with your results occurs.
If an injury or accident occurs at a Ringwood Recreation activity, the coach or supervisor of the program will need to fill out the Borough's Incident Report Form and send it to the Rec Department within 48 hours of the incident. Forms can be emailed to recdept@ringwoodnj.net or faxed to (973) 962-6028.
Any questions should be directed to the Recreation Department at recdept@ringwoodnj.net or (973) 475-7129.
