Emergency Replacement of Boilers, Furnaces and Water Heaters
Emergency replacement of boilers, furnaces and water heaters will be allowed before a permit is issued as long as the Building Department is notified of the replacement at the time of installation and permits are submitted within three (3) days thereafter.
TIP: "It's just a water heater, what's the big deal?" Actually, fuel-fired mechanicals pose a threat of carbon monoxide poisoning if not properly installed and vented. That's why you should set up an inspection shortly after the work is done.
