When is heavy metal pickup and how do I schedule a pickup?
Heavy metal pickup is by appointment only every Wednesday of each week. Call Recycling at 973-475-7179 or e-mail recycling@ringwoodnj.net to schedule the pickup. You must call before 2pm on Tuesday to get your item on the list for the Wednesday pick up.  Leave your name, address, phone number and the item(s) you need picked up. Return calls are not made unless you have a question that requires a call back.  If you are unsure if your item is considered a heavy metal item, please contact the Garbage/Recycling Department.

What is considered Heavy Metal?
Any items, small or large, that are made of 75% or more metal are considered heavy metal and should be scheduled for pick up by calling 973-475-7179 or emailing recycling@ringwoodnj.net. Please provide your name, address, phone number and the item you need picked up.  Return calls are not made unless you have a question that requires a call.  Electronic items, such as televisions, are NOT collected.  We ask that item(s) are at the curb Tuesday night for Wednesday's collection.

How do I get rid of a large item, such as a couch, mattress, or dresser?
You are allowed to put out one large, non-metal, item per week with your regular garbage.  It must be less than 7 feet in length so it can fit into the truck.  This DOES NOT need to be scheduled. *Please note that Interstate Waste requires mattresses to be wrapped in plastic.

How do I get rid of electronics, such as televisions, computers or printers?
Electronics are not collected curbside.  You can bring them to our Recycling Center (click here for days/hours) or you can bring them to any Passaic County Computer & Electronics events.  You can CLICK HERE for their website to see upcoming events.

How do I dispose of paint?
If it is latex or acrylic paint, you must dry it out completely, then it can go in a garbage bag and placed in your regular garbage.  You can use cat litter to expedite the drying process.  Oil based paint, spray paint, stains, varnishes, and thinners are NOT accepted in regular garbage.  You will need to dispose of it through the Passaic County Household Hazardous Waste collections.  We post these events on our website, but you can CLICK HERE for the Passaic County website to see what events they have coming up.

Can I put out construction material with my garbage?
